Subject: Rational Argument Progress Report

Background

I am writing my rational argument paper on the popular argument of whether or not men and women can have a strictly platonic relationship. There are many different positions to this argument, many of which I will address in my paper. A big reason why I am interested in this topic is because there are so many different positions to view the question from. I chose what I believed to be the most pertinent arguments regarding men and women being “just friends.”

Achievements

I have found multiple articles on the topic of whether or not women and men can have a strictly platonic relationship. It is obvious that this is a topic that has been researched and discussed, but can be looked at from many different positions each time, depending on the person. There are at least 10+ different positions I have found just from reading a few articles and I know that coupled with my own creativity, I can create a solid paper.

Problems that have arisen

The problem I have found with this topic, but also could be a positive, is that there is no definitive answer to the question. It leaves a lot of room for debate and opinion. It is positive because everyone can analyze the question in their own way and technically, they are not wrong. However, without having a definitive answer, you can’t really back up the info with scientific research.

Work that lies ahead

I need to find maybe 2 more sources and summarize them before I begin putting together my 2nd draft. I found a few more unique positions on the subject that people may have never realized before.

Completion of Objections

I will be definitely be able to finish my project on time in regards to the syllabus. I feel I have more than enough time to edit, draft and perfect my paper to the best of my ability.

Sincerely,

Erica Veno
