End of the semester! :)

We made it!

I did do all the work that we were assigned and I really enjoyed the papers we wrote. For my informative and surprising paper I do wish that I had picked a more interesting topic than stem cell research. I felt like I got bored with it, so the reader of my paper probably was bored too. There was a lot of information on stem cell research but I think I could have found something with more exciting information to back it up. I definitely did all of the work to the best of my ability. I have always loved writing and I don't know if I'm exactly the best writer but I do put a lot of thought and feeling into my writing. I think the best paper I wrote this semester was the rational argument paper we just completed. I wrote about whether or not men and women can be just friends and what other types of relationships men and women can have. I literally read an article about a woman who had a sugar daddy and I have never laughed so hard.

I would have liked to get more peer review done. I should have taken the time to get more of your guys' contact information so I could have contacted you. This is definitely something that I should have put more effort into.

I did take a lot from this class and I think I have become a better writer. I have definitely improved my grammar and learned how to format in MLA correctly (I think). I literally was so confused about MLA at the beginning of this class because I hadn't used it since high school. So that was a good refresher. Also, learning how to create an argument that is based on more than just opinion will help me in all of my future classes, as well as learning how to create an argument with various positions, not just pro-con.

Thank you everyone for an awesome experience!

Have a good summer and good luck in everything you do! :)

Progress Report #3!

Hi Everyone,
I am updating you all on my progress with my rational argument paper! But, since the weather is nice and I kind of wish I wasn't inside typing (Sorry Dr. Kyburz! lol).

So yesterday, I received my niece's pictures with the Easter Bunny aaaaaaaaaaaand she was not impressed to say the VERY least....

Subject: Rational Argument Progress Report #3

Background

I am writing my rational argument paper on the popular argument of whether or not men and women can have a strictly platonic relationship. There are many different positions to this argument, many of which I will address in my paper. A big reason why I am interested in this topic is because there are so many different positions to view the question from. I chose what I believed to be the most pertinent arguments regarding men and women being “just friends.”

Achievements

I found an additional source, talking about the “friendzone” which was pretty informative and fun because we all see jokes on social media regarding the “friendzone.” The paper was written by a woman, but I would like to find ne written by a man to add the opposite point of view in “friendzoning” someone.

Problems that have arisen

The problem that I’ve been having most recently is organizing my paper. This argument has many different positions, as it is supposed to, but I don’t want it to be confusing, I want it to flow, so I’m definitely going to be working on revising my paper to flow more smoothly.

Work that lies ahead

I need to find an additional source and create a summary, just for good measure.

Completion of Objections

I will definitely be able to finish my project on time with regard to the syllabus. I am right on schedule with the assignments we are expected to finish and I feel I am producing quality work throughout this process.

Sincerely,

Erica Veno

I have found multiple articles on the topic of whether or not women and men can have a strictly platonic relationship. It is obvious that this is a topic that has been researched and discussed, but can be looked at from many different positions each time, depending on the person. There are at least 10+ different positions I have found just from reading a few articles and I know that coupled with my own creativity, I can create a solid paper.

Problems that have arisen

The problem I have found with this topic, but also could be a positive, is that there is no definitive answer to the question. It leaves a lot of room for debate and opinion. It is positive because everyone can analyze the question in their own way and technically, they are not wrong. However, without having a definitive answer, you can’t really back up the info with scientific research.

Work that lies ahead

I need to find maybe 2 more sources and summarize them before I begin putting together my 2nd draft. I found a few more unique positions on the subject that people may have never realized before.

Completion of Objections

I will be definitely be able to finish my project on time in regards to the syllabus. I feel I have more than enough time to edit, draft and perfect my paper to the best of my ability.

Sincerely,

Erica Veno
